✓ On our annual “Foodie Pilgrimage” to the yearly Alchemy festival we always seek out the “Dosa Deli” street food stall; because we always love a freshly made dosa and these guys never fail on the authenticity of the taste factor.
Another reason that we look forward to seeing them is that every time we see them they always have some new items on their menu; inspired by their travels in South India, this time they had the following new menu items’: they were serving up freshly made; Palak (Spinach) Paniyaram (Chetinadu Kulipaniyaram, famous Tamilnadu dish), Crunchy Dal Vadas’ and Onion Bhajias (Pakoras).
We are very much honoured to see these guys again, because they are inspired by beautiful Mother India and the pavement kitchens that provide sustenance for its many inhabitants with the cheapest and tastiest of freshly made food anywhere. Also to mention the inspiration of the street characters creating food that is blessed by hand and human touch and further energised and charged by positive thoughts.
You’d be forgiven if you thought that this is a Indian Street Food stall (or “Lari”) somewhere on the busy, bustling streets, beaches or restaurants of India – astonishingly these White English (Angrezi) guys were making these Indian treats in the heart of “Proper London” – making them freshly to order and serving them piping hot within a matter of minutes………delicious restaurant quality food; but at affordable street food prices – with no service charge added !!!
Unlike some places there is nothing hidden and no secret to the recipe because everything is made in full view of customers.
Wala (Wallah) = Someone specializing or working in a specific occupation or activity i.e. Chai Wallah, Rickshaw Wallah, Kulfi Wallah etc………
If you remember we have caught up with these “Dosa Wallahs” at previous years Alchemy Festivals (here’s links to videos we made of them then; 2014: https://youtu.be/bmRjC9aHapE & 2016: https://youtu.be/pfYG_qDEgYw)
“Mr & Mrs Dosa” (aka Amy and Kristian) are “Master Dosa Makers” having travelled in India & Asia, whilst along the way gleaning tasty secrets, hints & tips from expert cooks & chefs with the ultimate aim of creating delicious masterpiece recipes.
Dosa Deli can be found serving dosas’ at various locations in London & festivals (such as Glastonbury) in the U.K. if you are planning to visit them; send them a message to find out when & where they are trading.

You can go many times to India and love it every moment of your time spent there, (but you’re always sad in the knowledge that India only exists in India and nowhere else) the sights you see, the sounds you hear, the people you meet (in India); all serve to feed you not just physically but also emotionally and spiritually. So when we come across guys such as this, we humbly raise our hat and take a bow because they have not only given us just a snack but also given us a taste of back home.
These guys have perfected and mastered the “art of dosa making”…….as always, all the dosas we eat from these guys are absolutely delicious, we would go as far as to say that these guys are “Dosa Making Master Chefs”.
A special thank you to Kristian, Amy & all the Dosa Deli team who very much welcomed us and graciously allowed us a privileged glimpse into their kitchen to do the videoing even though they were extraordinarily busy.
We would love to see these guys have their stall somewhere in Camden Lock or Stables Market.
This video recorded on various days in May 2017 at the Alchemy Festival at the Southbank, Waterloo, London.
The 10 day Alchemy Festival this year was from Thursday 18th May to Monday 29th May 2017 (bank holiday Monday) as the Southbank Centre Square was once again transformed into a magical, bustling Indian Street Food market………it was truly a feast for the senses !!!
