We’re in France!
We crossed the border and left Germany behind to drive down to Strasbourg the oldest Christmas market there is.
After a couple of hours we arrived in the North of the city. Due to the attacks last year the entire centre of the city was closed and off limits to all forms of unauthorised vehicles, we parked at a tram station and for €4.20 we could park there for the entire day and have a tram ticket that would cover up to 7 people in the car with no extra cost.
We took the tram to the closest station to the centre of the city it would stop at (even the trams were not allowed to stop in the city centre) and walked over the bridge to where the market was held.
The markets are located essentially on an island in the centre of the city and without any cars and the very extensive and thorough bag checks/searches being given by the security it felt like one of the safest markets I have ever been to.
Strasbourg, it turns out, has a number of different small markets dotted around the centre. We unintentionally walked through a few that we didn’t even know about.
The main attraction was, of course, the cathedral. The main market area is located here and is a very picturesque setting for a Christmas market.
There are definitely some differences between a market in Germany and one not too far over the border in France. We have our favourites so far.

Back in Sardinia we visited some loved ones of Gianni and had a BBQ with more meat than meat day at the county fair. They got some beef patties and flattened them then stuck in some bacon then some green stuff and then more beef. insanity. almost had to have heart surgical treatment. I took pleasure in some fantastic food and business in spite of me not understanding many of the Italian being spoken. I seemed like an alien sometimes and a dumb one too. After a few more beers we headed into town where we satisfied more pals of Gianni – a dynamic bunch but got hella worn out and was glad to head house.

As far as we can inform, the wedding of Vahisha Mittal (daughter of a millionaire) and Amit Bhatia (a financial investment lender) is the most expensive on record. They were married in France in 2004 and even Forbe’s Publication has acknowledged this as the most expensive wedding to date. Forget invitations. These two opted to send out 20-page books lined in silver to the1,000 visitors taking part in their 5-day affair. The chef, from Calcutta, prepared more than 100 different dishes and the white wine tab alone was more than $1.5 million. This one holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records – and for good factor.
