After two incredible weeks in South Korea, my time in the country was officially at its end. However, as I began my journey back home to Miami, I had to have one last Korean meal in Seoul before I hopped on my flight. Come along with me as I try airport food in Seoul and Dallas on my way home!
I am in love with South Korea! This country has blown my mind every step of the way. From its incredible history, awesome sights, cleanliness, super-fast internet, its well-connected transportation system, and of course, its mouthwatering food, South Korea exceeded all of my expectations.
I started my journey at Seoul Station, the busiest train station in all of Korea. There, you can catch the KTX bullet train to Busan. But this time, I would be taking the airport express train. The airport is in Incheon and the express train is the fastest and most efficient way to get there. Just follow the blue lines on the floor and you’ll get there with no problem!
My ticket cost me 9,500 won, or roughly $8 U.S. It was quick and easy. From the ticket booth, I headed down to the express train tracks and boarded. I would be riding in car number one. There’s a new train every half hour, so they’re never full. There’s also free WiFi onboard!
After 43 minutes, I arrived at Incheon Airport, which is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. I got there about 4 hours before my flight, so I had plenty of time to check in, go through security, and find something to eat.
There’s a robot that takes photos of you there, and you can email them to yourself. It’s amazing!
Instead of eating the food in the American Airlines lounge, I decided to get some Korean food at the food court near my gate. I had to go Korean when in Korea! I ordered a bibimbap with spicy octopus, sprouts, spring onions, radish, cucumbers, rice, and seaweed. There were kimchi, olives, spicy radish, and a miso soup on the side.
The soup was really nice and light. There was some delicious seaweed in it! Then I went with the spicy radish, which was super spicy. Then I dug into my bibimbap and mixed it all up. Mix it up until every piece of rice is red!
The contrast of flavors and textures was outstanding. I loved the crunch and the spice. The octopus was nice and tender and the flavors were out of this world.
After my meal, I headed to Gate 31. I’d be flying on a 787 Dreamliner. It would be a 13-hour flight. I was extremely tired, so I was ready to relax. You should sleep as long as possible, but when you are awake, you should move around every 2-3 hours so your legs don’t go numb.
After a long, 13-hour flight, I arrived in Dallas. I slept most of the flight and grabbed my bags and go through security. I took the Skylink to Terminal A and headed to The Salt Lick, an amazing barbecue joint in the airport.
I ordered a brisket, cole slaw, and beans. The barbecue in Texas is outstanding. The barbecue sauce was nice and sweet and the brisket was super tender and juicy, with a little bit of fat on it. The beans were also really delicious! The cole slaw was just OK, though. Overall, the meal was way better than what American Airlines offers.
I got upgraded to business class for my flight to Miami for the first time! I was blown away—my seat was a flat lay bed with a TV, USB ports, and power outlets. I wanted to chill and enjoy the experience! It’s so different from Economy.
The flight to Miami only took 2.5 hours. They cut 30 minutes off the flight time! I had some short ribs and a glass of wine and watched a movie. I highly recommend flying business class with American Airlines!
After 24 hours of traveling, I finally arrived in Miami!

Just to be fair if I ‘d disliked every bite I would have left the place to expire of terminal silliness and potentially come back ultimately if it rallied. However the incredible chowder shooters (not exactly drinkable in their shot glass – we had to request spoons), the spectacular smoked fries with not-too-much cheddar and the Roadway Food Warrior’s entire wheat fettuccine with spicy shrimp, grilled squash and marjoram in fact measure up to Witt’s resume – Rubicon in San Francisco, Dining Establishment Daniel, Il Buco and the doomed but enthusiastic Varietal.
