This summer, JSAM had the opportunity to work with Yatai Montreal for the second year in a row to help organize the biggest Japanese Street food festival in Montreal.
From June 14-16, our members lead the Yatai volunteering team in each department in order to have a successful event.
With over 20 food kiosks present and around 20,000 visitors, the event featured music and dance performances along with amazing authentic Japanese food and drinks.
Big thank you to Yatai Montreal for working with us and all the volunteers who have worked tremendously hard to make this event a success.

Are you having a basic American supper tonight? Slower vendors might be holding food for a few days to assist conserve cash. The celebration will have five phases with some of the most diverse performances around.

A Hotdog Cart is a customized mobile food mean selling and preparing street food, to passerbies. Without Balut, you just can’t envision the street food in Manila to be total. This snack is sold in early evenings. Walk down on to the streets of Manila, and you will find the vendors shouting “Baaaaluuuut” and hawking fertilized duck eggs. This is rather an unique snack and might surprise a very first time visitor. This strange dish is a nearly fully-formed baby duck into the egg total with tiny feathers, and ready to be eaten entire with vinegar and chili garlic. Attempt it out and you’ll get a crispy mash of both chicken and egg flavors.
I on the other hand waltzed over to The Location and had a Pastrami Melt. So take a grilled cheese with white American and knocking it together into a double decker with completely prepared, peppery pastrami and mustard and you have actually got one hell of a sandwich. The last couple of bites we had were from Ahn Joo Korean Pub Grub. While a number of friends went for the Bacon Wrapped Rice Cylinders, we chose for the Grilled Japanese Eggplant and Tofu Skewers- terrific! And the report back on the bacon and rice was similarly as promising. I believe that was where I began feeling the drowsy sensation of the food coma beginning.
If you wish to consume “street” food which is found at vendors around hectic areas of high traveler areas, talk with locals and look for hectic vendors. These tend to have a high turnover rate implying their food can be found in daily and you can be sure you’re not getting leftovers. Slower vendors might be holding food for a few days to assist conserve cash.
The Chairman Bao Bun Truck serves gooey steamed (and surprisingly, baked) Chinese buns and omelettes. Fan favorites consist of the Pork Tummy with Pickled Daikon bun, and the Chinese Sausage and Egg Sandwich with Hoisin. @chairmantruck.
II. Kebab: Kebab is preferred food stuff for the non-vegetarian community. It is soft yet crispy and will bring water to your mouth. The very best location to stuff on kebabs is Sarvi just by the Dimtimkar Roadway.
The Bird’s Nest Soup is made from the nests of Swiftlet; a small bird found in the caves of South East Asia. This is special nest as the bird makes it from its own saliva.
Often they even slept in shifts when the area they slept on was leased to others while they were worked. You can find jazz, blues, rock, nation, hip-hop, progressive, punk, metal and everything in between.
