Today, I wanted to do something really fun for you guys, so I’m doing a pani puri challenge! When I found out one of my favorite local Indian restaurants in Miami has unlimited pani puri, I knew I had to take on my favorite eating challenge. Come along with me as I embark on the ultimate pani puri challenge and eat tons of Indian street food in Miami!
For this challenge, I went to Spice Magic Restaurant in West Dade. I’ve done this challenge a few times before, once in Tezpur and once in Kolkata. I’d be doing it against myself this time to try to break my own record, which is 36 pani puris! I even skipped breakfast so I’d have more room in my stomach! I had a feeling I would do at least 100!
Pani puri is one of the most popular street food snacks in India. It’s one of my favorites and also goes by other names like puchka and golgappa. It’s essentially a crispy, hollow dough ball made of semolina that’s filled with a potato mash, chickpeas, different chutneys, and a spiced water called pani. It’s so flavorful! I love the way it washes over your palate when you bite down on it!
For these pani puris, Danny served me some spicy pani and some medium pani, as well as a mixture of potatoes, carrots, and chickpeas, as well as samosas! They had 100 puris waiting for me.
Then Sachin served me my first pani puri. I went with a sweet one. It wasn’t overbearingly sweet but was really good. Then, I went with a spicy one. I alternated back and forth with the sweet and spicy. They were heavenly but super filling. Sachin filled them up completely!
