We are excited to let you know that we have recently “discovered” a great “vegan chicken” sizzler dish being served up at Shambhala Village Indian vegetarian restaurant in the heart of Birmingham.
As you probably know by now we love Desi places like this; in this video we point our camera in the direction of the Tandoori Clay Oven section of the kitchen in which the Tandoori Chef gives us a insight into how he quickly cooks up his delicious dishes to a packed and busy restaurant.
Notice how the chef is so calm and keeps his cool working in such a fast paced environment making naan breads.
Also in the background you can see the other colleagues working their magic such as the curry master and the Indo-Chinese Chefs.
Some of the special sizzler items seen being cooked are:
- Tandoori Soya Chicken Tikki
- Hariyali Tikka
- Malai Tikka
- Paneer Shashlik
Note that; in Indian restaurants dishes cooked in the tandoor oven cook at a very high heat which delivers a delicious smokiness to the cooked food and gives that distinctive Barbecue flavour to the finished dish.
The actual sizzler is a cast iron hotplate heated to a high temperature drizzled with a squirt of oil and then lined with onion, White Cabbage and then the cooked tikka pieces are placed onto the hotplate, sprinkled with Chaat Masala, drizzle of lemon juice, a smear of Ghee and garnished with freshly chopped coriander.
The guys were very busy at most times of my visit and I didn’t feel it appropriate or right to interupt to ask what recipe ingredients being used were.
Shambhala Village Restaurant is now confirmed as one of our favourite restaurants whenever my family and I visit Birmingham (aka Bham) because we find that the food does not fail to deliver on the taste factor and the portion size of the food served up is very generous they serve up restaurant quality food at Indian Street Food prices.
