What’s up, guys? Today, I will be building my own Indian thali at home! You guys know how much I love Indian food, so I’m super excited. Best of all, I get to share this experience with my father! Come with us as we make our own Indian thali and have an Indian food extravaganza in Miami, Florida!
We’re heading to Charcoal Indian Cuisine, one of our favorite local Indian restaurants, and build our thalis at my dad’s house! I called my dad using my Raycon Everyday E25 earbuds and met up with him. Our friends at Charcoal Indian Cuisine were going to surprise us with a huge spread but I didn’t know what they’d be giving us! I was hoping for something creamy!
Inside, I grabbed our dishes, which included lots of curries and some dishes that aren’t on the menu. He included veg and non-veg dishes and some lassi and falooda! Then, we headed to my dad’s house, where we had our thali platters, which had 12 mini bowls inside.
For the Indian thali, we had over 15 Indian food dishes. We had chana masala, matter paneer, samosa chaat, dal makhana, onion pakora, onion salad, palak with aloo, masala bindi, okra, veg pulao, dal, dry shrimp, raita, basmati rice, and more! We built our thalis with a bit of every dish and broke our fast with the dal!
The dal was like an onion pakora in soup form. It was amazing and light! Next was the onion pakora, which is an onion fritter. They soft and mushy although they are fried.
We also had a dosa-like flatbread that I’d never seen before. I tried it with the paneer. It was like a doughy paratha and wasn’t like naan or a dosa at all. The paneer was outstanding. Next, we went with the goat with papad, which was a creamy and buttery spinach curry with goat. It was gamier than regular goat and spicy!
Next was the pulao, which contained carrots, green peas, potatoes, and lots of spices. This was mostly a veg thali with only a couple of non-veg dishes. The shrimp was fantastic! The non-veg dishes in India are so creamy and delicious!
Then, I tried the dal makhani with the papad. The dal was creamy and the crispy papad added a nice contrast in texture. Next was the okra, which had a delicious masala and onion in it.
Next was creamy palak (spinach) with potatoes. It was great! Next was the samosa chaat, which was sweet from the tamarind chutney in it. It’s a broken-down samosa that’s mixed with the chutneys. It was so good! With the papad, it was crunchy, crispy, sweet, and fresh.
The veg salad with carrots and onions was really great. Everything in our thalis had a completely different taste from everything else.
We also had some super spicy pickles!
Then, we tried a mango lassi, which is a thick, cool yogurt drink that cools your mouth off. The falooda contained a mix of vermicelli noodles, milk, ice cream, fruit, and tons of other ingredients. It’s super gooey and yummy!
And that was our Indian thali with 15+ Indian food dishes! My dad and I both loved the shrimp and goat. The falooda was incredible, too!
