The French Quarter in New Orleans is amazing! It’s a place where historic buildings and great food are everywhere, and that describes what we found when we went to Cafe’ Du Monde. Established in 1862, the Cafe’ Du Monde is known for its amazing Beignets, also known as French Doughnuts. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Cafe’ Du Monde’s menu features their delicious square beignets, served warm and covered with powdered sugar. And if you don’t think the powdered sugar that’s already heaped on it is enough, there’s a shaker of it on every table so you can add more! Their menu also offers dark roasted Coffee, (served black or Au Lait), Chicory, White & Chocolate Milk, fresh-squeezed orange juice, Iced Coffee and soft drinks. And very importantly, everything is CASH ONLY – no credit or debit cards are accepted for anything here. While you’re there, you can also purchase souvenirs and even Cafe’ Du Monde’s own Beignet Mix to try at home. Many people like to come here in the morning for breakfast, which can result in long lines and waits to be seated. Beignets are great any time of the day, so if you can avoid traditional breakfast hours, (maybe even lunch and dinner, too) you probably won’t have to wait very long. We ate inside and got in almost immediately at 5 PM on a Saturday in June, and there was plenty of outdoor seating available. Our Cafe’ Du Monde experience was great, and it’s one of those Must Do’s when you’re in New Orleans!
